follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the
people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a

SEUSSICAL SHERMAN COMMUNITY PLAYERS 11/2-11/18/2012
Now one of the most performed shows in America, SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (LUCKY STIFF, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and RAGTIME) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry. GIVE ME A BREAK ArtCentre Theatre 11/9-11/18/2012
Pop-rock musical, "Give Me a Break" is a funny, sexy, yet touching story about a rock band's arrival at a crucial crossroads, rendered chaotic by a turbulent mix of women's lib, sexual freedom, hallucenigenic drugs, STDs and an offer they can't--or won't--refuse. It's the late 1970s. Pulsar5 collectively yearns to attain rock stardom, but they diverge on how far they are willing to go to achieve it. Conflict climaxes when Pulsar5 auditions for a "big-time" agent. That's when the two female and three male band members realize their ideals are irreconcilably different.
In "Give Me A Break", human frailties are hilarious and hair-raising. Reaching for a dream can squarely crush the heart of the lover boosting you up. And strength of the old friendships can be stretched to the breaking point when opportunity knocks. Is the force propelling Pulsar5 forward a prophetic magnetism drawing them closer to their true star, or is it a stellar wind pushing them to flame out?
