Theatre Under The Stars' (TUTS) President and CEO John C. Breckenridge announces TUTS' 2010-2011 Sensational Season: It Shines! October 2010 through June 2011 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. "This will be our 43rd season here in Houston, and we're proud to be bringing some fresh new shows directly from Broadway! All six are TUTS debuts, five of which are Houston premieres." says Breckenridge. The TUTS 2010-11 season features two shows which are still currently playing to Broadway crowds.

Get ready for big hair and big heart from this beautiful and bubbly Broadway hit! The TUTS debut of Hairspray October, 5 - 17, will have your family singing and dancing to hits like "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now," "You Can't Stop the Beat" and "Good Morning, Baltimore."

Boss-man got you down? Well pour yourself a cup of ambition because TUTS brings you the Houston debut of 9 to 5: The Musical, November 9 - 21! With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, 9 to 5: The Musical was nominated for four 2009 Tony Awards® including Original Score and received a record breaking 15 Drama Desk nominations including Outstanding Musical. WOR Radio said ‘You will love this show! 9 to 5 is a real 10!" and the Daily News sums it up by saying "it shines! Dolly Parton's songs are bouncy, big hearted, fresh & original. If you're looking for a diversion, 9 to 5 will do the trick from 8 to 10:15!"

Who-Ville comes to Houston this holiday season November 24 - December 5 with the TUTS and Houston premiere of the record-breaking Broadway sensation Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. It's a fun-filled holiday in every respect, featuring charming visuals and a fantastic story everyone knows and loves. Even the crabbiest of Grinches will find their hearts warmed at TUTS this year!

Founded in 1968, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is Houston's acclaimed non-profit musical theatre company and is currently under the direction of President and CEO John C. Breckenridge. TUTS was the first theatrical organization in Houston to perform free to the public in 1968 at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park, and is the only Houston arts organization that has performed there free to the public every year since the building opened. Since its founding by Frank M. Young, TUTS has produced more than 300 musicals including many local, national and world premieres such as Kopit and Yeston's Phantom, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll & Hyde, and Irving Berlin's White Christmas. TUTS has also produced international tours including Debbie Reynolds in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Juliet Prowse in Mame, Robert Goulet in Man of La Mancha, as well as critically acclaimed local re-inventions of classics Cabaret and Les Miserables. As a way to continue the tradition of musical theatre, TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre provides instruction and stage experience for more than 1,700 students annually through both The Academy and The Studio, which allow students to flourish in a year-round schedule of classes.
